Dahua SD49225T-HN PTZ settings for new firmware

Although you can find a list of tested and supported cameras at blueirissoftware.com/Technology, this is a good spot to share or inquire about what cameras have been most successful with Blue Iris for you with other users.

Dahua SD49225T-HN PTZ settings for new firmware

Post by Tinman » Sat Aug 11, 2018 1:24 pm

This week I finally upgraded my SD49225T-HN firmware to the latest on the Dahua website as well as the PTZ firmware. I was having a scaling issue in Google Chrome so I thought maybe this would fix it. The upgrade made my PTZ functions quit working correctly in BI. By that I mean I had all blue mouse arrows working as well as the Home button. Depending on what version of PTZ firmware you have you may have different results. So currently I am using the ONVIF (OXML) PTZ setting in BlueIris. Everything works except the "Home" button in BI. After a few emails and access to my cam Ken said there will be a new PTZ preset called (Dahua new) that will be out sometime this weekend.

So this morning I was running ONVIF device manager and logged into the cam and noticed you can set the home position in the cam (see pic) And now the home button works in BI ! Before it would go to 0,0 coordinates. I wasn't sure if this setting would hold, so I rebooted cam and YES it does. So I thought I would share. There were some new PTZ features in the new firmware and as far as camera picture or focus issues I have not noticed any.

Now for the scaling issue I had with Google Chrome. This was due to the latest W10 spring update and me running a higher DPI on a 2K monitor. I wasn't getting the full camera's view in the camera's UI which in turn affected my ability to draw the red rectangle around the subject and have it zoom to that area. After a little google search I found I wasn't the only one, so you need to create a shortcut for google chrome, then properties, and then check the box I have circled. Now all is back to normal. Blue Iris Update 4.7.9.0

"Dahua New" profile on a Dahua SD49225T-HN

Firmware version:
2.623.0000000.2.R.R4.2510.9A.NR, Build Date: 2018-08-01

PTZ version:
3.02.93.RHNZ_170518_22722

Working:
  • PTZ movement controls
  • Focus
  • Presets
  • Home

Not working:
  • Zoom in / out
  • Camera goes unresponsive after a while when using a profile with "Auto-Cycle Patrol" preset positions.

Would love to see this fixed, as the "Dahua New" ptz profile has the smoothest and most direct / precise ptz movement of them all.

You are correct, I need to give Ken access to mine again and see if he can fix it. I currently had to go back to the Onvif preset and then everything works again. Did you try to set the speed under Ptz/control by right clicking on cam window in BI ?

I also tried the ONVIF profile before, but the problem i have with that one, is the very slow zoom in / out when manually controlled.

I'm now using the Amcrest/Dahua profile, because the zoom works fast on that one, but the diagonal ptz controls do not work with that one.

The ptz speed is always set to 3, no matter which profile i test or use.

The speed also controls the zoom speed.....try 10 and you will see it zoom faster.

You are absolutely right.. I did not think that far, but that indeed sets the zoom speed. Only problem with setting the speed at higher than 5 will make the movement of the camera a little hard to control. Because it has a sort of soft start on the stepper motors. So if you press to long on a direction, the camera will take off like a carousel haha.

I also noticed that with the ONVIF profile, the focus controls don't work for me.

I guess, i will try to figure out if i can get the zoom in / out function to work on the "Dahua New" profile, with fiddling with the settings. It worked 2 or 3 updates back. Don't remember which update it was. Stupid me..

This weekend I will get mine opened up and see if Ken will have a look again. So everything is good except what was noted here and will see what happens.

4.8.0.0 has corrected the "New Dahua" PTZ profile now. All seems to be working for me now.
